Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to do anything to opt-in to the program?
- Yes! You can log-in to your Donor Portal Account and click “Donor Rewards” to opt-in. You cannot opt-in using the Mobile App at this time.
- Note; if you have opted into previous the Power Platelet program you will be pre-enrolled.
Where can I access Power Platelets?
- You can log-in to your Donor Portal Account and click “Donor Rewards” to view your points and make an order.
- You can also access the “Donor Rewards” via the mobile App!
How do I earn points?
- Sign-up and donate platelets! The system will automatically award you points the day after your donation. Never donated platelets before? Schedule a Whole Blood donation and ask for a platelet count sample during your screening room assessment.
Do I still earn points if I am deferred at the time of my donation or if my donation is unsuccessful?
- Yes, you will receive 40 points for either a deferral or unsuccessful platelet donation.
What is considered a successful donation versus an unsuccessful donation?
- Platelet donations are considered successful and will receive points based on a platelet volume >= 3.0
When are Bonus Point Days?
- You earn 50 extra points if you donate on a Sunday and Wednesday. Adjust your communication preferences to be in the know about additional bonus point offers that will be communicated via email and text.
How many points do I need to earn a reward?
- Points needed vary by reward. Sign into your Donor Portal account and click “Donor Rewards” to take a look at available items.
How will I know when I have enough points for a reward?
- By signing into your Donor Portal account you can view your points and check your progress to the reward item you are striving for.
Is this a quarterly program like before?
- It is now a full year program.
Are reward items going to be added and removed?
- Yes, reward items will switch out throughout the year, similar to our quarterly structure in previous years. You can expect the following quarter schedule for items
- Quarter 1: January 1 – March 31
Quarter 2: April 1 – June 30
Quarter 3: July 1 – September 30
Quarter 4: October 1 – December 31
- Quarter 1: January 1 – March 31
What happens if reward items run out?
- We do our best to keep reward items stocked, however, supplies are limited and some items may become unavailable due to vendor’s supply chain. If an item disappears from the Donor Reward Store, it is likely unavailable due to vendor’s supply chain and will not be restocked at this time.
Do my points expire?
- Donor’s available points will become inactive 6-months from their last donation date.
- Donor’s points will become reinstated when they return for their next donation.
- Donor’s available points will expire 8-months from their last donation date.
- Points can be reinstated from expired per the discretion of Bloodworks.
- All Donor’s Points earned during the year will expire on December 31.
How long do I have to redeem?
- You have until December 31st – when points expire – to redeem for reward items.
When are points awarded?
- Points will post to your account the day after your donation at 1:30pm. You can see what points you earned for your donation in the points history section in the Donor Rewards Store.
