Professional Bio

Dr. Yujung Jung is an esteemed medical professional currently serving as the Assistant Medical Director at Bloodworks Northwest and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology at the University of Washington School of Medicine. With a robust background in both clinical and anatomic pathology, Dr. Jung has dedicated her career to advancing the field of transfusion medicine and laboratory diagnostics.

Dr. Jung is deeply committed to education, having taught various courses and sessions at Bloodworks Northwest, and the University of Washington Medical School. Her teaching focuses on transfusion medicine, platelet refractoriness, and donor testing.

Dr. Jung has contributed significantly to medical research, with numerous peer-reviewed publications and abstracts. Her work includes studies on therapeutic plasma exchange in lipoproteinemia X patients, apheresis granulocyte transfusions and platelet volume reduction protocols in pediatric patients, as well as the safety of ABO minor incompatible platelet transfusions. She has presented her research at prestigious conferences such as the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies and the American Society for Apheresis.
