  • When Kristin Kleinhofer’s acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) returned, she picked a mantra, a quote by Christopher Reeve: “Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.” It’s this hope, along with the decision made by two families to donate their babies’ cord blood and the generosity of more than 90 blood donors, that powers Kristin today. July is Cord Blood Awareness Month! Stem cells from umbilical cord blood are used to treat more than 80 diseases, such as leukemia.
